However, during 2020, the government provided extra support for people sleeping rough during the pandemic, in addition to the support already being provided as part of the Rough Sleeping Initiative (RSI) which were in operation at the time of both this years’ and last years’ snapshot and should be noted when comparing figures with previous year’s as they have provided additional support which has helped to protect thousands of vulnerable people during the pandemic.ġ.3. Unlike last year, this years’ Rough sleeping snapshot did not coincide with any restrictions which may have impacted people’s risk of rough sleeping. This technical report outlines in detail how the Rough sleeping snapshot statistics are collected, the quality assurance processes in place and the limitations of the statistics so users are fully informed when interpreting the statistics release.ġ.2.
